Findings of the Excellence Committee In October 2005, the Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) formed an Excellence Committee to identify the policies, programs and practices, which would enhance services to students across the District. Although it is recognized that we are a high performing school district, Pleasanton Unified has a strong belief in continuous improvement. The 55-member committee, comprised of parents, students, teachers, administrators, classified staff, and community members, has been working over the past several months to identify policies, programs, and practices that would enhance services to students across the District. During the early stages of their work, the committee reviewed the Strategic Plan, visited classrooms, and considered the results of research in a variety of areas. (These research reports may be viewed by clicking on the "File Downloads" button on the left.) They identified priority items which were grouped into four main areas: class size reduction; technology; student and staff support; and curriculum enhancement. On March 14, the Board of Trustees was presented with the committee’s final ranking of priority items—a list of twenty-two recommendations. Currently, the District is in the process of implementing many of these items and considering potential funding sources for others. Please click here to see an update on progress made so far. The full report may be viewed here. We encourage all members of the community to review the findings and provide feedback.
