EBAL Championship 5/1
he Dons make NCS. The Amador Dons came into the EBAL
Championship at Shadow Lakes GC Tuesday needing to place two spots ahead of
Cal High to make the NCS Qualifier next Monday. Mission accomplished!! The Dons
finished six and six in league play and fourth overall, but by virtue of their
third place finish and Cal High falling to a sixth place finish in the EBAL
tournament, Amador's team marches on to play at Lone Tree Golf Club in Antioch
on Monday, May 7th.
The Dons were led by Sophomore Jonny Baxter, who finished 5th overall, with
a 76. Senior Captain Kirk Laffins added a fine round of 79 while Freshman Robbie
Garcia fired an 80. Junior Danny Rosa came in with an 81 and Junior Matt Moody
rounded out the scoring with an 82. The team score of 398 was the fourth time
this year the Dons have broken the 400 mark. Reaching the NCS qualifier was
a big goal of the squad and they seem ready to move on to the NCS Championships
on Monday, May 14th back at Shadow Lakes.
NCS Qualifier 5/7
Moving On:
The Dons moved on to the finals of the North Coast Section Championship on Monday
by posting their best 18 hole score of the season 384 at Lone Tree GC in Antioch.
They took fifth in the Section Qualifier which allows them to continue their
season at Shadow Lakes GC next Monday, May 14th. Kirk Laffins won the qualifier
shooting a career best 69, three under par, while Jonny Baxter and Robbie Garcia
came in with 77s. Kurt vonTrapp shot a 79 and Matt Moody rounded out the scoring
with an 82.
NCS Championship 5/14
The final tournament was today with the team shooting
its lowest score of the year at the Shadow Lake's GC.
The 396 was good for 9th place out of the 20 teams at NCS. Jonny led the scoring
with a 74 just one stoke off moving on to Nor-Cal. Kirk and Kurt had 79s, Matt
had an 80 and Jay added an 84.
